What happens when a poor passionate dreamer chooses to lead a film enterprise? An entertainment conglomerate is created.
Among his other valuable engagements with cinema, the idea of a film academy sprouted in Mr. L.V. Prasad’s fertile mind as early as the 1950s. As he stood back and watched his Prasad Group of companies blossom, his long cherished dream of providing film education to aspiring filmmakers began to dominate his thoughts. But it took another five decades for the idea to realise when Mr. Ramesh Prasad decided to commemorate his father’s memory in a meaningful manner. The result of this vision and effort is L.V. Prasad Film & TV Academy becoming a reality in 2005 coinciding with the 50th Anniversary of Prasad Group.
This dream of Mr.L.V. Prasad has flourished for more than a decade now and served hunderds of aspiring young film makers realise their dream in turn.
This visionary's films like ‘Sharada’, ‘Khilona’ and ‘Ek Duuje Ke Liye’ represent a deep passion to challenge conventions in order to reach out towards young minds while creating a modern cinematic narrative. In recognition of his great contribution to cinema the Dadasaheb Phalke Award was conferred on him in 1983. The Government of India released a Commemorative Postage Stamp in his memory.
